Refund and Returns Policy
A Sleevary book can be sent back for any reason within 30 days of the delivery date, no restocking fee comes out of the refund, and the money is credited within 7 business days of the returned book passing its check. This policy took effect Oct. 2, 2026 and covers every order placed on sleevary.com; the request comes from the adult who placed the order, even when the book was a present and the child who received it is the one who spotted the problem.
Returns accepted until 30 days after delivery
The 30 days start on the delivery date the carrier records and end 30 calendar days later, and asking for the return inside that window is what counts, since the book itself can go in the mail afterwards, as described further down. A box delivered on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026 can be the subject of a return request until Friday, Nov. 27, 2026.
Restocking fees set at $0.00
No restocking fee is charged on any return, whatever the reason, so the refund on an accepted return is the full price of the book. The one amount that can stay with Sleevary is the original shipping charge on a change-of-mind return, which is explained below.
Any reason accepted, a change of mind included
A return does not need a fault. Duplicate birthday presents, a series volume bought out of order, or a novel that turned out too old for the reader, such as Hatchet for a nine-year-old who found the plane crash frightening, all qualify, and customer service asks for the reason only to spot listings that keep causing the same mistake.
Condition expected on a returned book
A change-of-mind return has to look unread when it reaches the returns facility, and that means:
- No writing, crayon, highlighter, or stickers, inside or outside.
- Every page whole, flat, and dry, with the spine unbroken.
- No food stains, smoke, or pet smells.
- The dust jacket, if the book came with one.
A book that arrives back outside these limits is mailed back to the customer at Sleevary’s expense with photos showing the problem, and no refund is issued for it. These limits never apply to a book that was damaged, misprinted, or wrong when it arrived.
No title marked final sale
Every title in Picture Books, Early Readers, and Middle Grade Novels can be returned under this policy, and no clearance or final-sale titles were on sale when it was written. If a final-sale title is ever added, its listing and this page will both say so before the first copy is sold. Books that fail the condition rule above are the only ones turned away.
Return numbers requested by email or form
Each return runs through four steps:
- Within 30 days of delivery, the customer writes to contact@sleevary.com or uses the form on the Contact Us page, giving the order number, the title, and one line on the reason.
- Within 1 business day, customer service answers with a return number and the address of the returns facility.
- The book goes into a padded mailer or a small box with the return number written on the outside, and it is posted within 10 days of that reply.
- The tracking number from the post office or carrier goes to customer service by email.
Returns started by phone at +1 (743) 242-0838 follow the same steps, and the return number still arrives by email so there is a written record.
Return addresses sent with the return number
The address for a return is sent only in the email that carries the return number, because it belongs to the distribution partner and changes with the partner’s facilities. The company’s office at 306 Craig St, Greensboro, NC 27406 keeps no books, so a package mailed there cannot be opened, checked, or refunded.
A returns facility located in the United States
Returned books go to the distribution partner’s returns facility inside the United States, so return postage is a domestic rate with no customs form. On a change-of-mind return the customer pays that postage at whatever the chosen carrier charges, and when Sleevary made the mistake the customer pays $0.00.
Postage paid by whoever caused the return
The reason for the return decides who pays:
- Sleevary’s mistake, meaning a book damaged in transit, a misprint, a wrong title, or a copy that differs from its listing: Sleevary pays everything, the book usually stays with the customer, and when customer service does need it back, a return label paid by Sleevary is emailed along with the return number. The original $3.90 shipping charge is refunded as well.
- A change of mind: the customer buys the return postage, and Sleevary keeps the original $3.90 shipping charge if the order paid one.
Refunds credited within 7 business days
When the returns facility has the book and has checked it, the refund is credited within 7 business days to the card or PayPal account that was charged, and an email confirms the amount on the day it is sent. The bank or PayPal may need as many as 10 further business days before the credit appears on a statement, a delay Sleevary cannot shorten. A partial return never costs the books that are kept their free shipping: when If You Give a Mouse a Cookie ($14.32) comes back from a $34.26 order, the refund is $14.32, even though the two books kept come to $19.94.
Change-of-mind returns paid by the customer
A change of mind is a full return in every other respect, with the postage the only cost to the customer. An order of Little Bear at $4.91 plus $3.90 shipping comes to $8.81, and returning the book because the reader already owned a copy brings back $4.91. A tracked postage service is the safer choice, because a return that never arrives cannot be refunded.
Exchanges limited to format swaps and fresh copies
Two exchanges are offered directly: the same title in its other format when the listing offers both, and a fresh copy in place of one that arrived damaged or misprinted. Any other swap is a return plus a new order, and the new order is packed within the usual 1 to 2 business days without waiting for the returned book to arrive.
Damaged or misprinted copies replaced at no cost
A book that arrives bent, torn, wet, or with misprinted or missing pages can be reported within 15 days of delivery, sending one picture that shows the damage and a second that shows the shipping label on the box. Customer service answers within 2 business days with a replacement copy or a full refund, the original shipping charge included, and the damaged copy normally stays with the customer.
Wrong titles sent by mistake
When the box holds a different title from the one ordered, the same 15 days and the same photos apply. The right title ships at no charge once customer service has the photos, and the wrong copy either stays with the customer or comes back on a prepaid label if customer service asks for it.
Copies judged against the listing’s ISBN-13
Every listing gives the book’s ISBN-13, format, page count, and publisher, and those details decide whether a copy matches what was sold. A copy whose ISBN-13, format, or edition differs from the listing can be returned as not as described at any time inside the 30 days, with postage paid by Sleevary both ways and a full refund that includes shipping. A new cover on the same ISBN-13 is not a mismatch, because publishers change cover art and award seals between printings, but a customer who dislikes the new cover can still send the book back as a change of mind.
Missing boxes replaced or refunded
A box the carrier confirms as lost, or one still missing 6 business days after customer service opens a trace, leads to a replacement copy or a full refund, and the customer makes that choice. The Shipping Policy lists the checks to make first when tracking says delivered and the doorstep is empty.
Deliveries refused at the door
A box that is refused, or that the carrier cannot deliver because the address on the order was incomplete, travels back to the warehouse. Once it arrives there, the books are refunded in full, while the original shipping charge stays spent because the box made the trip, and the 30 days for a return do not restart.
Mail sent without a return number
A package that reaches the returns facility without a return number on it is held for 30 days while customer service tries to match it to an order by name and title. A matched package is refunded under this policy; after 30 days an unmatched package can no longer be refunded.
Cancellations accepted within 6 hours
An order can be cancelled within 6 hours of placing it by emailing customer service with the order number, and the full amount is credited back within 2 business days. After 6 hours the order may already be packed, so the return steps on this page become the way to undo it, and an address change follows the same 6-hour limit set out in the Shipping Policy.
