Shipping Policy

Sleevary books reach the door 6 to 9 business days after the day an order counts, and shipping costs $3.90 until the book subtotal reaches $29.00, at which point it is free. Those two numbers carry most of this policy, which took effect Oct. 2, 2026 and applies to every order placed on sleevary.com, whether the adult paying is buying a first picture book for a two-year-old or a novel that a twelve-year-old will read alone.

Addresses served in the 48 contiguous states and DC

Sleevary delivers to any street address in Washington, DC and the lower 48, which takes in houses, apartments with a unit number, and offices where someone signs for packages during the day. The address on the box and the address on the card do not have to match, so a grandparent paying from Ohio can have Corduroy delivered to a grandchild in Oregon without any extra step.

Destinations excluded at checkout

Five kinds of destination are outside the service: Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico together with the other US territories, post office boxes, and the military and diplomatic addresses written as APO, FPO, and DPO. At checkout, an address in Alaska, Hawaii, a territory, or a military post office brings up no shipping option at all, which stops the order before any payment is taken.

Post office boxes are the exception the address form cannot spot, because a PO Box looks like any other line of text to it. When one slips through, customer service writes to the customer within 1 business day asking for a street address, and an order that still has no street address 2 business days later is cancelled with a full refund.

Books shipped from a US distribution warehouse

Every order leaves from a warehouse inside the United States that belongs to the book distribution company filling Sleevary orders, and that company pulls the copies from its shelves, boxes them, and passes the box to the carrier. Because the books never leave the country, the box carries no customs paperwork, and the customer owes no import duty or delivery charge when it arrives. The office in Greensboro, North Carolina handles email and records only, keeps no books on hand, and is never the place a box starts from.

Carriers chosen box by box

The distribution partner decides which carrier takes each box, and checkout has one standard service, with no express upgrade on sale. The shipping email names the carrier along with the tracking number.

Orders paid before 5 p.m. Eastern

The daily cutoff falls at 5 p.m. Eastern each business day, and a business day on this site means Monday to Friday, leaving out US federal holidays. Payment before the cutoff makes that date the order’s first day, while payment at 5 p.m. Eastern or later, or at any hour of a weekend or federal holiday, moves the first day to the next business day.

An order placed at 3:40 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026 counts on Oct. 20. One placed at 5:20 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23 counts from Monday, Oct. 26.

Books packed within 1 to 2 business days

Packing takes the distribution partner 1 to 2 business days, beginning on the order’s first day, and covers pulling the books, boxing them, and handing the box over. Unless one of the delays described lower on this page applies, the box is with the carrier by the close of the second business day.

Boxes carried across the country in 5 to 7 business days

Transit adds 5 to 7 business days from the hand-over, and the same range applies whether the address is in Maine or in Southern California.

Totals worked out as 6 to 9 business days

The estimate shown across sleevary.com is the sum of four steps, two of which take business days:

  1. The order’s first day is the business day it was paid before 5 p.m. Eastern.
  2. Packing takes 1 to 2 business days.
  3. Transit takes 5 to 7 business days.
  4. The box arrives 6 to 9 business days after the first day.

The Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026 order above would leave the warehouse on Oct. 21 or Oct. 22 and reach the door between Wednesday, Oct. 28 and Monday, Nov. 2. Federal holidays drop out of the count, so Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 12, 2026 and Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026 each push an estimate back by one day.

Shipping charged at $3.90 below $29.00

Below a $29.00 book subtotal, shipping is $3.90, and from $29.00 upward it costs nothing, at one rate for every address in the delivery area. Corduroy at $9.96 plus The Day the Crayons Quit at $9.98 makes $19.94, so the $3.90 applies and the final price before any tax is $23.84. Putting If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, $14.32, in the same cart lifts the subtotal to $34.26, and the $3.90 disappears from the order.

Subtotals measured after discounts and before tax

The subtotal of the books is the only thing that sets the fee, measured after any discount and before sales tax, so a heavy hardcover, a fifth copy, or a long distance never raises it. Four middle grade paperbacks, Charlotte’s Web, Holes, Hatchet, and The Phantom Tollbooth, total $28.23, which leaves the cart $0.77 below the free threshold; that order pays $3.90 for a final price of $32.13 before tax, while adding Biscuit at $5.86 makes it $34.09 and free to ship.

Tracking numbers emailed on the day of shipping

On the day the box goes out, Sleevary emails the carrier’s name and the tracking number to the address the customer typed at checkout. The carrier’s own site may not list a first scan until 1 business day later, and until the box leaves the warehouse, the Order Tracking page is where the order’s status can be checked.

Addresses corrected within 6 hours

Customer service can change a wrong street number, unit, or ZIP code if it hears about the mistake within 6 hours of the order, by email quoting the order number and the corrected address. Later than that, the order may already be in the partner’s hands, so the box travels to the address on the order, and a box the carrier returns as undeliverable falls under the Refund and Returns Policy.

Sales tax added only in North Carolina

Listed prices are before sales tax. A delivery address in North Carolina, the state where the company is based, adds North Carolina sales tax on the books and on the shipping charge as a separate line at checkout, and at the time this policy was written no other state’s address adds a tax line.

Titles sold out after checkout

A title can sell out at the warehouse in the hours between payment and packing. If that happens, customer service writes to the customer within 1 business day with three options:

  1. Wait for the new ship date named in that email.
  2. Take the same title in its other format, or a different title, with any price difference charged or credited.
  3. Receive a full refund for the missing title, credited within 2 business days.

The other books in the order keep moving unless the customer asks Sleevary to hold them.

Dispatch dates missed by Sleevary

When an order cannot be packed and handed to the carrier inside the promised 2 business days, Sleevary emails a new ship date before the second business day is over, together with the option of waiting or cancelling, and a cancellation brings the full amount back as a credit to the card or PayPal account within 2 business days. Silence from the customer counts as agreement to wait until that new date only; if the second date is missed too, the order is cancelled and refunded unless the customer writes to say the books are still wanted. This is how the FTC’s mail order rule at 16 CFR Part 435 treats late shipments.

Boxes marked delivered but not found

A delivered scan is not proof that the box reached the door, because drivers sometimes scan at the curb, hand a box to a neighbor, or leave it in a mailroom. Four steps solve most of these cases:

  1. The customer checks the mailbox, the porch, side and back doors, and any corner a driver might pick to keep a box out of view.
  2. Neighbors come next, along with the front desk or mailroom if the building has one.
  3. Waiting until the end of the next business day often settles it, since some scans are entered before the truck arrives.
  4. If the box is still missing, an email to customer service within 15 days of the delivered scan, quoting the order number, starts a claim.

Customer service files a claim with the carrier and decides within 2 business days between a replacement copy and a full refund.

Damage noticed on arrival

Boxes sometimes arrive crushed or wet, and a book can come out of one bent, torn, or with misprinted pages. Reporting it no later than 15 days after delivery, together with pictures of the damaged book and the shipping label, gets a replacement copy or a full refund decided within 2 business days, and in most cases the customer keeps the damaged copy. A box delivered on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026 can be reported until Thursday, Nov. 12, 2026, and misprints and wrong titles are covered in more detail by the Refund and Returns Policy.

Shipping problems settled within 2 business days

Any shipping problem gets a decision within 2 business days of customer service receiving the order number and the photos it asked for. Tracking that goes quiet follows a separate clock: after 4 business days with no new scan, customer service asks the carrier to trace the box, and if it is still missing 6 business days into the trace, the customer picks either a replacement copy or a full refund.

Packing fees never charged

Sleevary adds no handling, packing, or insurance fee to any order, which leaves the shipping line at checkout, $3.90 or $0.00, as the whole cost of delivery.

Delays caused by weather or the carrier

Storms, floods, carrier backlogs, and the crowded weeks before the winter holidays can push transit past 7 business days, and neither Sleevary nor its partner controls them. When tracking shows such a delay, customer service follows it up with the carrier and emails the customer if the expected date moves.

Returns explained on a separate page

Sending a book back, refunds, and exchanges follow the Refund and Returns Policy, which allows a return to be started up to 30 days after delivery and charges a $0.00 restocking fee.

Shipping questions answered by customer service

Questions about a box, an address, or a delivery date reach Sleevary customer service at contact@sleevary.com, at +1 (743) 242-0838, or through the form on the Contact Us page, Monday to Friday from 7:45 a.m. until 5 p.m. Eastern, and each one is answered within 1 business day, with weekend messages answered on the next business day; quoting the order number in the first message usually saves a second round of questions.
