Payment Policy

Every Sleevary order is charged once, in US dollars, at the moment it is placed, and the amount is exactly the final price shown at checkout. This policy took effect Oct. 2, 2026; it speaks to the adult who pays, since a child can read every book in the catalog but cannot be the buyer of one.

Cards and PayPal accepted at checkout

Two payment options appear at checkout. Under Credit Card, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover all work, debit cards on those networks included, and Stripe processes the charge through a payment gateway service; choosing PayPal brings up a PayPal window instead, where the money can come out of a PayPal balance or out of any card or bank account the buyer has linked there.

Billing addresses allowed in any country

The billing address is whichever address the bank or PayPal holds for the account, and it may be outside the United States, because only the shipping address has to be inside the delivery area described in the Shipping Policy. An aunt in Toronto paying with a Canadian card can send Llama Llama Red Pajama to a niece in Raleigh.

Prices listed in US dollars

Prices on sleevary.com are in US dollars, shown with cents, such as $10.42 for Llama Llama Red Pajama in hardcover. Banks that issue cards abroad sometimes add a currency conversion fee, which the bank sets and keeps, and Sleevary has no part in it.

The final price shown before payment

The order review at checkout lists every line that will be charged before the payment button is pressed:

  1. The books, each at its listed price.
  2. Shipping, $3.90 for a book subtotal under $29.00 and $0.00 from $29.00.
  3. Sales tax, which appears only for a North Carolina delivery address.
  4. The final price, which is the sum of the lines above.

Corduroy ($9.96) and The Day the Crayons Quit ($9.98) going to Virginia show $19.94, then $3.90, then a final price of $23.84, and that is the amount charged.

Tax calculated from the delivery address

The delivery address, not the billing address, decides whether sales tax applies. A North Carolina delivery address adds North Carolina sales tax on the books and on any shipping charge as a separate line, and at the time of writing deliveries to every other state show no tax line.

Extra fees ruled out

Sleevary adds no card fee, no handling fee, no processing fee, and no shipping insurance, and no option is ticked in advance to add one. The lines described above are the whole bill.

Payment taken when the order is placed

The card or PayPal account is charged the full final price when the order is placed, not when the box ships, which means the charge and the order confirmation arrive at about the same time.

Order confirmations sent by email

The confirmation goes to the email address typed at checkout as soon as the payment clears, listing the order number, each book, the shipping line, any tax, and the final price. A confirmation that has not arrived within an hour has usually landed in a spam or promotions folder; if it is not there either, customer service can resend it.

Pending holds released by the bank

A card that fails partway through checkout can leave a pending hold, which is a temporary reservation and not a charge. The issuing bank normally releases such a hold within 3 to 5 business days, and the only payment that remains is the one tied to the order number in the confirmation email.

Failed payments left uncharged

A declined or interrupted payment is not charged, the order never reaches the warehouse, and the buyer can try again with the same method or the other one. If a second attempt fails as well, the card’s issuing bank is the place to ask why, because Sleevary is told only that the payment was declined.

Orders held back by fraud checks

Stripe and PayPal screen every payment for fraud, and occasionally the screening pauses an order for review, for instance when the billing name and the delivery name differ in a pattern it treats as risky. Customer service emails the buyer within 1 business day of the hold, and an order that is not confirmed within 3 business days of that email is cancelled with a full refund.

Pricing mistakes corrected before shipping

A wrong price can slip onto a listing despite checks, as when Corduroy appears at $0.96 instead of $9.96. If an order is placed at an obviously mistaken price, customer service emails the buyer before anything ships, with two choices: keep the order at the correct price, or cancel it with a full refund credited within 2 business days. Nothing is charged at the corrected price without the buyer’s agreement.

Discount codes switched off

Sleevary does not run discount codes, and the coupon box is turned off at checkout, so no code can change the final price after the fact. Any future promotion will be dated on the page that announces it.

Payment methods turned away

Gift cards, cryptocurrency, Apple Pay, Google Pay, paper checks, money orders, wire or bank transfers, installment plans, and payment in cash when the box arrives are all unavailable at the time of writing, and no order can be paid over the phone or by email.

Logos limited to working methods

The payment logos at the bottom of every page and the ones at checkout show only the methods that work at checkout today: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and PayPal. A logo is removed on the same day its method stops working.

Card numbers handled by the processors

Card numbers are typed into Stripe’s own payment field, and PayPal sign-ins happen on PayPal’s pages, so a full card number never reaches the servers of sleevary.com. The order record keeps only the card network and its last four digits, and every page, checkout included, loads over HTTPS.

Disputed charges raised with Sleevary first

A charge that looks unfamiliar is often a Sleevary order under the processor’s name, and its amount and date can be compared with the confirmation email. When something is wrong, an email to customer service usually settles it within 1 business day, faster than a chargeback, which can take the card network weeks; a buyer remains free to contact the bank at any time.

Personal details covered by the Privacy Policy

The name, addresses, email, phone number, and payment details collected at checkout are used and protected as the Privacy Policy describes, and Sleevary does not sell them.

Billing questions sent to customer service

Customer service answers questions about charges, holds, and refunds at contact@sleevary.com, at +1 (743) 242-0838, or through the form on the Contact Us page, Monday to Friday from 7:45 a.m. until 5 p.m. Eastern, within 1 business day, and a question about a specific charge is answered fastest when it includes the order number and the date of the charge.
