Gerald the giraffe has crooked knees and very thin legs, and every year at the Jungle Dance the other animals laugh at him. This year he walks off on his own, feeling clumsy and sad.
Under the moon he meets a cricket playing the violin, who tells him he may just need different music. Gerald starts to sway, then to spin, and the animals who laughed come over to watch. Giles Andreae wrote it in rhyme, and Guy Parker-Rees filled the pages with bright, bouncing animals.
